Hats, mittens, scarves, cardigans in organic wool, from SVENSK
SVENSK is a brand that blends the classic knitting craft with a playful, trendy design. SVENSK founded in 2006 by designer Diana Svensk.
The hats, mittens and socks knitted in Sweden and the yarns are of organic alpaca and organic wool.
Swedish now works with the Swedish sub-contractors and a cooperative owned by farmers themselves on the high plateau in Latin America. Cooperativet have from the start worked under the Fair Trade's requirements, including with fair wages and participation. Cooperativet going development of a sustainable approach. Right now the certification process.
Svensk has chosen to take alpaca yarn from cooperativet and develop with the factory in their own pace in terms of certifications. It's a cost to cooperativet and an organizational component shall serve for a certain period.
The wool is taken from free-ranging alpacas in the mountains and SVENSK also has contracts with the factory that they (in addition to meet Fairtrade standards with regard to fair wages, environmental, husbandry, etc) using only organic tillverklning and staining for / of our products.
SVENSK uses mostly of alpaca wool, but also a small part merino wool bought from Europe and GOTS Certified.
